In Fatma Durmaz Yılbirlik’s life, Bursa has always been at the center of the world. Her heart’s desire was always to make the voice of this city heard across the globe; throughout her journey from industry to the arts, she consistently worked towards this goal.
Sometimes, this voice was a Durma machine traveling to 120 countries, from America to Australia; it was the signature of a Turkish brand opening up to the world with technology developed in Turkey. In the management of Durmazlar, she carried the flag she took over from her father much further. With her management vision strengthened at Harvard Business School, she led the global growth of Durmazlar. In this transformation that elevated a family company to a corporate structure, she managed the transition to integrated management systems with great conviction. With her belief in the power of systems and her vision of creating new business development and management models, she also invested in different sectors.
Sometimes, that same voice echoed at the International Bursa Festival. Through the Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation, which she chaired for a full decade between 2010 and 2020, she transformed the festival from being merely a local event into one that reaches large audiences on a national and international scale. Today, she continues to provide her support as the Honorary President of the foundation.
In her role as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Bursa, a position she has held since 2014, she has contributed to the development of economic, cultural, and social relations between Turkey and Poland. For these efforts, she was honored with an order of merit by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, in 2022.
By taking on active roles in numerous associations and institutions, she has worked with faith and perseverance for a brighter future for her city and country. Today, she continues to lead global projects with the Durma brand, representing her country in all corners of the world.
